went the supermarket, realised when I got to the till I had no money on me, fortunately had my card so had to pay on that.

Did not have any waffles or potato cakes in stock. Unbelievable as that was the two main things I wanted. Had to buy some weird Belgian waffles instead. You can't get proper waffles in this stupid country but the ones they usually sell are an acceptable compromise. The Belgian things are just too sweet.

They did open a new till for me though so no waiting, at least that was a positive.

I did not go from start of covid up until end of April this year. I hate it but if you time it right you can be in and out in ten minutes.

There's now about a billion students living in my area and another huge accommodation block opening right around the corner from me in a couple of months. Probably that's who's buying all the waffles and potato cakes.

When you say waffles, do you mean potato waffles, or the ones made from batter? I quite fancy getting a waffle iron (only about 20 quid) and making my own.

The ones made with batter. Not sure you can still get potato waffles?

Thought about a waffle iron but they are a bastard to clean up. Plus then you've got to find somewhere selling the batter, making my own is something I would likely do once and then lose interest.

I did that three weeks ago - except I realised I didn't have my wallet with me, so no cards! Explained my embarassing predicament but the supermarket (Sainsbury) were very good about it: they put my basket of shopping behind the counter, cancelled the till and let me return ten minutes later to pay.

Never happened to me before - must be becoming senile!

Turned out I had put my work keks in the wash with the money still in the pocket. It's dried out now though.

I thought the same, I reckon they'd be as addictive as pancakes. Making batter is piece of piss.
