It's Diwali celebrations this week.

Piggin' fireworks!

Going off in a garden backing on to ours. Not much to look at, just a lot of very loud bangs. The cat's out there somewhere, and isn't for coming in, not even for her Dreamies. There is no need for fireworks to be on general sale, should be organised displays ONLY. On bonfire night. So I don't need to keep the cat in from October till the New Year.

We've had the fireworks racket every night for the last week, centering around 24th October when the noise was unbelievable, as it is every year! The poor mutt is terrified by it all. Strangely, my last dog loved it all and begged to go out and see and hear the fireworks.

I don't know why plant based has to be marketed as meat replacement, chicken pieces or pork sausages etc. If I want to eat a plant based diet then why do I need to pretend its something it isn't !

I love some vegetable dishes for the fact they celebrate them cauliflower, broccoli, courgettes, etc , I also love a decent baked bean lasagne or vegetable curry.

So why if I don't want to eat meet do I have to pretend I do by eating plant based "pork" sausages !

If I'm a vegan, vegetarian, piscatorian or plant based thats my choice. If I want a 12oz prime Angus Fillet Steak thats my choice.

I think some can't relate to meals that don't have a meat content and 'veggie burgers' and the like are offered as a hopefully acceptable substitute. Personally, I think it's faddish nonsense.

Non-flesh meals are fine by me, although I'm not vegetarian.

i like a bit of meat i have to say; not being big on a lot of veg, its just as well lol. quite like a veg lasagne if done right.

Being a religious festival is no excuse - it could still be done with an organised display. To quote Wikipedia: "It symbolises the spiritual victory of light over darkness, good over evil, knowledge over ignorance" Well they were clearly ignorant of my cat's wellbeing.

I thought last night the cat had done a runner to get away from the noise, spent much of the evening trying to call her in. Turns out she was hiding behind the sofa all along. Like I used to do with Dr Who.

Well I suppose it had to happen.

This afternoon I was working on an upstairs window, and i fell off the ladder, about 3 metres. Or rather the ladder slid away with me on it. Got a rather large gash on my left shin ("Is that white bit a tendon?" "No I think it's a bone") So a trip to A&E. Was able to drive my van as it's an automatic.

Four bloody hours there, including tetanus jab, (third jab in eight days) clean inside the wound (that smarted a bit), and an x-ray (no fractures ) All the staff there look fresh out of school. The radiologist looked at my outer calf muscle and exclaimed "Wow, what's happened there?" "Nothing's happened, that's my shape" Ok I know my shape generally won't get me on the cover of "Men's Health", but really?

Mrs. P met me there, and told me I was very brave. Didn't get a lollipop or a sticker though.

Anyway, after tomorrow I'm holiday for a week. Which is just as well.
