most of w lothian built up is 20mph now. still quite a few ignore it in extreme and just get uppety and overtake etc... bmw drivers many of them. apparently if you drive one you have to race about in it

Same here. 20mph on a lot of roads, but the Beemer & Audi mob think it doesn't apply to them. I tend to do a touch over the 20, but if the idiots start tailgating, I slow down to 15mph. I've got used to the 20 limit and it doesn't bother me.

i set the cruise to 20 and let it hold the speed. flipping it off when needed and let the regen brakes slow it down. worst scenario is the footbrake lol

Currently driving a Honda Jazz hire car - pure petrol - automatic. Even though it's a hybrid it's not a plug-in hybrid - and it's very noticeable how rough the brakes are. Compared to "proper" EVs which can often be driven almost completely using the accelerator pedal - depending on settings - this one is decidely not so smooth.

Not sure if driving it in B mode is a good idea as that might work in a different way. The comparable mode in the old Prius we had was useful for going down steep hills.

I'm not totally against the so-called "self charging" hybrids - though that strikes me as a marketing gimmick. Basically they still burn petrol (or perhaps diesel), and with the current prices of combustible fuel are really not great at all. Even on such a hybrid car, the regenerative braking should be better than this one shows.

In other respects it's quite nice to drive.

Also there are many that don't seem to realise (as I used not to do) that the national speed limit on many roads is not 70 mph, but actually 60 mph. That's certainly true in a lot of Scotland, so when the cruise control is working properly (Grrrrr - Tesla - it often fails ....) I set the speed to 60mph and just let the car do its thing. Still get overtaken, and sometime by "locals" also sporting Ecosse badges, Parts round where we live have got fairly new 20 mph limits.

No way I'm ever going to Blackpool so that idea's out.

Although that does give me the idea of getting a donkey, have it gong around on one of those boom things like in the westerns.

Would fit in my back yard if I got a little one and passing children would bring it food - carrots and stuff - to keep it going. Plus there's lots of weeds it can munch on.

And if you dry out the donkey-shite it makes good firewood. And the smoke off it will lend your room a nice rural ambience.

40mph on single carriageway, 50 on dual for over 7.5 ton vehicles. yes vans and cars with trailers are 10mph slower on rds excepy motorways, although anyong towing above 60 is bloody mad

I've managed to avoid towing trailers for nearly 20 years, since I wrote off a van. And I was only doing about 40.

yup, they can be dangerous if wrongly loaded/wrongly towed etc. they might break free but they usually whip the vehicle about or flip it completely. depends on weight etc.
