    You've gone to some lengths there to get CD-like sound quality (only kidding Barry, as you may know I still favour me vinyl)
    I just dropped in, to see what condition my condition was in

    T/T: Inspire Monarch, X200 tonearm, Ortofon Quintet Blue. Phono: Project Tube Box CD: Marantz CD6006 (UK Edition); Amp: Musical Fidelity A5 Integrated.

    I just dropped in, to see what condition my condition was in

    I picked it up in a charity shop today (along with the Echo and the Bunnymen CD, quod vide supra). I didn't know what to expect, and to be honest, I only bought it to complete my Leonard Cohen collection. Not sure if I really like it: Cohen doesn't sing, he simply 'talks in time', and yes it is "dark".

    Like you, I very much prefer 'Live in London'.

    Now to get a CD to sound like vinyl, I use a Studer-Revox C221 player



    and pass the output through a Klark Teknik DN360 30-way 1/3 octave equaliser to roll off the bass below 100Hz and to gently roll off the top above 7kHz.



    Preferably I would then use an EMT 156 stereo PDM Compressor



    And finally, use a valve power amplifier for a nice warm and woolly sound.




    Nah - only kidding.
