Porridge, 1978. Film of the series with same cast... The film was one of the more popular of 1979 at the British box office, grossing more than 16 million pounds in the UK.





The film was shot at Essex's Category B jail HMP Chelmsford, before it was returned to service following a fire in March 1978. The film company admin offices were located in the prison's hospital block. Authentic prison staff from HMP Chelmsford were employed as extras.

Some regular cast-members found the extremely cold weather during filming, plus the surroundings of a real prison, prompted a genuinely oppressive feel, being more used to the comparatively pleasant working environments of BBC Television Centre or Ealing Film Studios.

12 Monkeys, 2015/18. Lossely based on the film.





In Twelve Monkeys (1995), the main title song used for the film was by Astor Piazzolla, called "Suite Punta Del Este". This same song can be heard in season two, episode nine, "Hyena", of this show. (i have this piece of music on one of Astor's cd's)

The show, much like its film counterpart, is based on the short film La jetée (1962). This film also served as an influence on films such as The Terminator (1984) and The Jacket (2005).


This is the Reg A bluray boxset, (of which i have 2 both brand new lol; cockup on the film front)

The idea of going back in time and making changes in order to alter history, has always been a fascinating, if not unlikely concept, and so these three films have always been among my favourites. With Twelve Monkeys (1995) being at the top of that list

I'm hoping to find "The Jacket" on Netflix or something, not seen it for a while.

Dennis Quaid. His name on a film is a sign that it will either be mediocre, or terrible.

The only really good thing he's ever been in was 'The Right Stuff.' I quite like 'The Long Riders' for it's authenticity but it's not a great film.

I'm not sure whether Mr Quaid is drawn towards cack film roles, or if it's his presence that makes an ok film cack, but cack is generally the result. It might be something to do with his face, no offence Dennis.

Terminator Genisys, 2015.





Arnold Schwarzenegger worked out for six months, about three hours a day, before shooting started, by which time he had the exact same body weight and muscle measurements as he had 12 years previously while shooting Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003). Coincidentally, Schwarzenegger had done the exact same thing prior to Terminator 3, which had put him on the same weight and measurements as in Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991), so despite his age, his dimensions have remained fairly constant throughout the series.

J.K. Simmons(the detective) was stated to have improvised many of his lines. His description of a rocket to the T-800 ("Blows a door clean off. You know, for people who can't do that themselves.") even earns a stare of surprise from Arnold Schwarzenegger.

I thought this film had Dennis Quaid written all over it, but there's no sign of him. Unless one of the sharks got him right at the beginning. Such a waste if that were true.

Though there are three names, which if they appear in the TV listings, will guarantee that I change channels in plenty of time. They are Chuck Norris, Steven Seagal and "The Mussels from Brussels" Jean Claude Van Damme Cable.
