your right on both steve. doesnt have to be shit getting older but often for working folk, especially up north its a fact of life. poor housing, bad weather, low wages etc all go against us. and i include n of england. just have to look at folk waiting up to 10 days to get power back and were basically ignored all that time. it wouldnt have happened in the tory heartlands. not that i want to get political.Sorry to hear that Grant, getting older is shit, not all it's cracked up to be. I suppose it is political, though not party political - choosing between Labour and Tories is like deciding whether to eat dog shit or cat shit, and always has beenI doubt any of the alternatives would be any better once in power.
I know you've been a grafter, and imo that should be recognised and better rewarded. We must be one of the worst so-called civilised countries when it comes to looking after seniors. I'm thankful I'm still able to turn out to work each day, but it feels harder every winter. Probably got another 2 or 3 winters in me.
If it weren't for family ties (and lack of money) we'd move out to a warmer drier climate. Everyone I've spoken to who did that says it's helped their well being no end.
And to illustrate the point, I just got off the sofa to answer my phone, and I bet next door could hear my bones creaking...
