This morning the traffic was pretty bad on the way into work. It was 14 degrees C and taking my normal route I used 37% of the battery.

It seems a PHEV is quite good in heavy traffic, but battery range suffers if travelling quicker.

yes electrics are quite good at urban as they also benefit from regeneration etc which can add a lot to battery range.

How many miles/kWh or km/kWh do you normally get? Our two vehicles (EVs) range between 4-4.5 mile/kWh (about 6.4-7.2 km/kWh) and 3-3.5 mile/kWh (4.8-5.6 km/kWh) approximately.
I assume yours is a plug-in hybrid, so the battery will be considerably smaller than a full EV. Does the combustion engine stay off during the whole of your trip, or does it kick in occasionally?
Here travelling above 50 mph (80km/hour) does increase the consumption rate. Mostly we can't drive signicantly faster than that, though there is a dual carriageway section where 70 mph (112km/hour) is allowed and the national limit is 60 mph (96/km/hour) which works on some roads.

As long as you can get there and back each day there surely isn't a problem!

If you forget to plug your vehicle in, or you can't get a charge at work, then you would need to make sure you have fuel in the tank, and ideally you should be able to do most of your journeys on battery power alone.

It is a joke that you can't get the service you should, yes.
I love Hendrix for so many reasons. He was so much more than just a blues guitarist - he played damn well any kind of guitar he wanted. In fact I'm not sure if he even played the guitar - he played music. - Stevie Ray Vaughan

Don't get me on to smartphones - hate the **** things.

OK - the phones themselves can be useful sometimes - for example for a portable satnav if you use a hire car, but what really gets me totally p***d off is that nowadays you're not a person if you don't have a smartphone.
Try to run a bank account without a smart phone - and the banks are all different. It's an absolute nightmare trying to enter passwords, and 2nd factor authorisation etc.
Eventually we'll have 57 factor authorisation - "to protect us".

People say - why don't you keep all your passwords in the cloud - like Apple. Must be crazy.

Why don't you keep the passwords in the browser - I do sometimes - but anything important is written down, and I've taken to using some very choice passwords as I'm so disgusted with the things.
    Sometimes they work!

Before you get to see pictures of yellow and blue cars and are asked "click on the pictures with taxis". Don't they know that we don't have yellow taxis over here - mostly!
