I'll outline my numpty's guide to making espresso later, along with a few tips I've picked up over the last year or so.

Btw, one thing you'll need for best results, no matter how good your tap water is (and hasn't been discussed so far), is a water filter - makes a significant difference to the taste of coffee produced, and also helps keep the internals of your machine clean

The other thing, which is *massively* important, and not been discussed much so far, is getting the grind right on your beans, and how best to go about it. That's a whole separate subject on its own!

Also, have you sourced a good supplier yet for your beans?

My advice is to go local, if you can, so that you get them as quickly as possible once they've been roasted, and only use companies that roast to order (print a date on the bag) and ship next day. You'll never get the best results using so-called 'fresh beans' that were roasted sometime back in nineteen-canteen...

That's why you should avoid buying beans from supermarkets!

I know they're good, but why not try a supplier in Scotland, since that's where you live?

That's why I like to use Welsh ones, or English ones in our area, as we're close to the borders.

i like their coffee, and prices too. free delivery too if over i think 20 quid and im always over that. guess after trying umpteen different ones i settled on them(for now) if i find anything better i will try them tho.
