That's the problem with homogenizing everything, in order to (I guess understandably) cut costs, rather than offering people real choice. I think the Smeg comes in at least four different colours I can think of.

Of course for many, including your good self, that's a non-issue, but Del and I both spend an inordinate amount of time in the kitchen, and of course spent a lot of dosh designing it from scratch to our spec, and so for us it's important that all the little 'knick-knacks', as it were, fit in aesthetically with the look we've created

But I am a fan of Red Dwarf. Hence my comment on the word "smeg": 'smeg head' and 'smegging' were Dave Lister's favourite nominative and adjectival expletives, etymologically derived from smegma.

It's just unfortunate that the Italian company Smalterie Metallurgiche Emiliane Guastalla abbreviated the name to SMEG, without checking for any embarrassing connotations.

(The manufacturer of the cough sweets known as 'Zubes' had to change the name, because of the advertising slogan "Go suck a Zube", which was considered offensive in certain Middle Eastern countries: 'zube' being a vulgar colloquialism for penis. )

And on the outside, it read (translated from Italian): 'Have a look inside your 'BUM' for a big surprise!!'

Btw, your fresh black coffee looks really nice (I can tell by the depth of the colour, that it'll have had a rich flavour). The only reason we can make ours look 'fancy' is because being pressurised machines, they develop crema, and also nice frothy milk if you like cappuccinos!

But, as Gaz knows with his Moka pot, you can still make tasty black coffee without a thick crema.

I don’t like milk or cream except in cooking and so I just use a metal double walled cafetière - keeps it nice and warm.
