Cool.. I like something you can visit and pay your respects to, put flowers in, etc, which you can't do with a bloody urn! In that respect, we go to the cemetery every Sunday after church, plus clean the gravestones (often birds will have shat on them), water the flowers, etc, while we're there

yeah i used to go regular but health has inhibited my regularity.. daughter goes regular tho. i get down occasionally when i can get the car right up to grave

Lol, no you're all right, it was one of my other halves cousins who she didn't really like. We're going so she can catch up with some family who are coming across from Wales for the funeral.

Now now, as a good Catholic boy, you should know the value of a proper burial in a cemetery and a quality gravestone!

It's okay to be cremated as a Catholic, my father was cremated. I don't know if there is a headstone or anything though. He has got a tree with a plaque on it on the golf course though.

I'd always respect someone's wishes if it were possible, but when it comes to me I don't see that it matters in the slightest. Chuck me in a ditch for the wild dogs to eat.

I have the same philosophy. Funerals are for the benefit of the living, the departed don't care. From my point of view, I couldn't care less what happens to my remains, but I'm damned if if I can see why my family should be out of pocket over it. They are aware of my thoughts.

Yeah, I know, and if someone had specifically stated their wishes, and they'd like to be cremated, then you should certainly respect them. However, I prefer a church ceremony followed by a cemetery burial, for reasons stated, as I feel it's a 'proper job' then, and much more personal than simply being burned into ashes, but that's simply my opinion.

I feel the same about marriages in registry offices (rather soulless and superficial), versus proper church weddings, with the whole works

Mind you, when it comes to funerals, burial or cremation, it makes no sense to spend pots of cash on a coffin. The cheapest one would do me fine. As a major greeny, Del wants an eco-friendly cardboard coffin, as long as it's made to look princessy, so it'd have to be pink!

I agree, if you're going to do it, do it properly. My mother always says 'They're married, but it was only in a Registry Office.' It doesn't really count as far as she's concerned.
