A brother of mine is the double of Vladimir Putin. It had never occurred to me until his wife pointed it out. Now whenever I see Putin on TV I have to double-take to check it's not our Tony.

I mean you could infiltrate him into the Kremlin and cause all sorts of confusion, a bit like in 'The Goose Steps Out' with Will Hay.

Did it not occur to you that the Russians may have nicked your brother and replaced him with Putin? You need to be vigilant with these sorts of things.

I sent my dad a card, but haven't spoken to him for years so couldn't care less if it arrives or not, or if he likes it or not. I'm glad he's only got a few years left, then I'll start saving a few quid on cards a year.

I dislike him thoroughly, in case that wasn't obvious.

No it was a bit ambiguous

I think there is a real market for 'disliked persons' cards, with sentiments like 'Sorry you're a shithead' or Why aren't you dead yet?' Meant in jest obviously

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

Just took a call from one of my daughters five minutes ago - they're taking me for a meal on Monday, to beat the Sunday piss-take. I predict there will be yet another novelty coffee mug too.
