The film made a small profit and was critic-ed pretty evenly pro and anti. For the 10 minutes of flying in film it took 1500 flying hrs to capture.

Will stay with 1970 and war films, and rewatch one of my favs.. M*A*S*H...ANOTHER STRONG CAST . Donald Sutherland, Tom Skerritt, and Elliott Gould, with Sally Kellerman, Robert Duvall, René Auberjonois, Gary Burghoff, Roger Bowen, Michael Murphy, and in his film debut, professional football player Fred Williamson.





Did much better at the B O, making 81m$ from under 4m$ investment

Dark Passage, 1947. Bogart and Bacall star in this film directed by Delmer Daves.






Vincent Parry (Humphrey Bogart), convicted of killing his wife, escapes from San Quentin Prison and evades police by hitching a ride with a motorist named Baker (Clifton Young). A radio news report about an escaped convict and Parry's odd clothes make Baker suspicious, so when questioned, Parry beats him unconscious. Irene Jansen (Lauren Bacall) picks him up and smuggles him past a police roadblock into San Francisco, offering him shelter in her apartment.

The film was quite well liked and fairly successful

If you have read Heller's book - you will appreciate that it is a novel that is almost impossible to do justice on film. However that said, they made a pretty good stab at it.

One of my favourites as well.

If you have read Heller's book - you will appreciate that it is a novel that is almost impossible to do justice on film. However that said, they made a pretty good stab at it.

yeah i read the book a few times.. its better than the film but the film is, as you say not a bad stab. ive read a few heller books.. good as gold was a favorite, as was god knows

The Fisher King, 1991. Directed by Terry Gilliam and stars Robin Williams and Jeff Bridges, with Mercedes Ruehl, Amanda Plummer, and Michael Jeter in supporting roles.





An odd film with fabulous scenes and sounds; script is occasionally terrible and often just strange.. A film you'll love or hate i guess.
This is the Criterion BluRay release, which is a 2k scan. sound is 24 bit and its an excellent soundtrack.

Not seen this, but the description appeals to me, so will check it out... Much better than your usual 'crusty golden-oldies'!

Try and recommend more of this kind of 'leftfield' off-the-wall stuff in future

Alexander Mackendrick's directorial debut with the 1949 adeptation of Compton Mackenzie's novel (who also did screenplay), Whisky Galore. Starring Basil Radford, Bruce Seton, Joan Greenwood and Gordon Jackson.





Was filmed on Barra and was a box office success, and was first Ealing film to do well in the USA, under the name of 'Tight Little Island'
