There is a difference between Greatest Hits and Label Samplers. Of the latter, the ones which were formative in my musical tastes were: 'The Rock Machine Turns You On' (CBS); 'You Can All Join In' (Island Records) and 'Backtrack' (Track Records). Thanks to them I was introduced to so many artist(e)s whose work forms a significant part of my collection.Originally Posted by enrae8

The other thing is if you embrace streaming, then you can simply make playlists of all your favourite tracks from various albums, and worry not about owning extra albums for 'nothing'!
Me thinks some of our resident 'dinosaurs' need dragging, kicking and screaming into the 21st century with some aspects of their hi-fi and music hobby!

Lol - so was I, and indeed still am (especially with the recent addition of the Tandberg)! However, it's a damn sight easier on a screen, clicking a mouse, when streaming music files and creating compilations - zero effort
You and Macca are just sometimes too stuck in your ways for your own good
Happy told me when she was here that she'd like you to embrace modern technology more and stream music. It's a piece of piss to do, mate, and trust me a great addition to an existing vinyl and CD collection/replay system.
It actually MAKES you enjoy music MORE, as well as discover interesting new stuff!

They did help to introduce new artists to me too
I don’t really do streaming I’m almost 100% vinyl - very occasionally have a bit of Spotify on the phone in the Van

You can rip your vinyl collection onto a streaming set-up, simply for when it's more convenient to listen to the music that way, and keep playing it 'properly' for serious listening
