Ah, I kind of thought that's what you meant, but wasn't sure!

Well, next year Del wants to have some outdoor trees, all lit up with 'spangly' lights and icicles (which she loves), and if I get her a snow machine, it could look quite spectacular, so will invite you over for the grand opening, lol... Munchies and homemade mince pies and mulled wine

Very nice Marco. Red, White and Green at Xmas, eh?

A blind girl called Deborah has got a new friend this Xmas. A Guide Dog called Eve.

I sponsor Guide Dogs for a mere £10 a month. It's great, they send you a cute picture of your puppy every few months and a progress report.

And a Christmas calender full of adorable puppies. Eve started out as a tiny fluffball.

Anyway Eve is 2-y-0 and a now fully fledged Guide Dog.... Aw...

I see EBay are hanging on to buyers payments now - they wait a few days before passing on the payment to the seller.
Could it be due to competition I wonder ?

This may already have been discussed- if so ignore me

Nice one, Steve. A worthy cause indeed - they are, quite simply, beautiful creatures and invaluable companions for their owners

I did not know this - I ordered some rubber glazing gasket as a favour for a customer, and it's been a week and a half now. This company normally turns stuff around pretty quickly. If the issue is competition, Ebay are not doing themselves any favours

Hope I am not interrupting the flow, but I just dug out some stuff about Eve the Guide Dog's early months.

It takes 20 months to train a guide dog. They learn to be focussed on their owner, not be distracted by things like sausages in the Supermarket.

Or other dogs. Are taught to be confident in all sorts of places. I suppose crossing the road must be mission critical.

Go on trains buses, boats and to airports. Are taught patience, like sitting quietly in a Cafe.

Eve is apparently a happy and affectionate animal, ideally suited to someone who needs a cuddle buddy as well as a guide.

She is good in the office, just snoozing under the desk, so would suit an office worker. Lot to it, eh?

It's Del's birthday today, so I've just made one of her favourite cocktails, an Aperol spritz, and made it look all princessy:

Now she can open up all her presents!

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”
