Hondo (1953)
One of John Wayne's best films - his best film according to Al Bundy from 'Married With Children.'
Not much plot. Essentially he has to save some settlers from the Apaches - which he does of course - acquiring a bird (Geraldine Page) and a surrogate son along the way. The pacing is brisk, unlike a lot of 1950s westerns, and the battle at the end is cracking.
