My previous E39 saloon got up to the main car park on The Gorm in Feb 2018, my Dads X3M x-drive on his summers was stuck at bottom car park

They’re not too bad in snow, great fun in wide empty spaces in the snow

You can't beat RWD for entertainment value in the snow.

I remember drifting a 7.5 ton in an empty car park years ago, that was long before drifting was called drifting though lol

We get by just fine - always carry a few extra animal skins to keep warm in case we get stranded, and a big stick to ward off marauding mancs and scousers...

Del's an avid reader and has loads of books, but rarely disposes of any, as she likes the look of bookcases full of books, neatly stored (as do I), and is rather attached to most of them, especially anything antique or of sentimental value.

No, what we mainly dispose of is old ornaments (often proper, although not valuable, antiques), which are always in good condition, as we look after our things, or lamps, pictures, tables, glassware, brand new unwanted/unused gifts, and new, unworn clothes or shoes. And in terms of clothes, if they have been worn, then only if they're still in very good condition, plus we also wash them first before taking them to the shop, as stuff that's been hanging around in wardrobes for years can sometimes be a little fusty.

We're the type who always buy quality things, and keep them for a long time and look after them, not cheap tat to forever swap, simply to follow fashion [not saying you do that either, though], so when we decide to dispose of stuff, it's always good gear, mostly in the same (or near to) condition we bought it in. In all seriousness, if I'd taken stuff along to a charity shop, and it'd been refused, I'd have been rather embarrassed!

Btw, if you're busy, you should try Freecycling stuff. Nothing easier than posting details of unwanted items on the Freecycle site, someone living locally contacts you who wants it, and they come and collect. Simple, easy and good for the planet!

That's a lot of gear you're offloading there, bit of an impulsive buyer are we? Buying quality items, then giving them away unworn or barely used. If you were my missus I'd be sending you for counselling, or at very least never leave you without adult supervision

No chance of them turning down your donations, they must be rubbing their hands together when they see you pull up outside. Although they will treat you like their new best friend I bet the folk working at the shop would never invite you to come to their house for obvious reasons And that is a long held suspicion of mine, that the really good gear never makes it into the shop.

And no I've never been one for fashion, not since the Bowie song of the same name. I can make even the most ludicrously expensive designer gear look like something I found in the bins behind Primark, so I just don't bother

Ha - not all at once! Over the course of months/years, and we haven't given anything to charity shops for ages. We've got a garage full of stuff that would fill about five charity shops, and that's not including the stuff in our house! Most of it belonged to Del's mum, and quite a lot of it from when Del was a kid used to live in a much bigger house with her parents [huge detached villa with many rooms], long before she met me.

The brand new stuff we take to charity shops is the likes of unwanted Xmas presents from some of Del's friends and/or work colleagues. The used stuff is things we've bought ourselves and simply decided to move on, usually after many years, when we just wanted a change.

Possibly lol... Although we've been back weeks later, after having made a donation, and have seen some of the stuff we gave them, put out on the shelves. But yes, we always take stuff that others would likely consider as worth having. It's the same when we do car-boot sales - the bulk of our gear is gone in minutes, often snapped up by dealers!

The Londoners are now checking Google Earth and finding this newly discovered land of Watford whilst shaking their heads in disbelief that you can travel beyond Edgeware without falling off the edge of the world
