The nice thing about being a young child then, in a comfortably off environment, was that you weren't exposed to any of the hardships of the 70s (such as Grant mentioned), had you been an adult having to work in some of the bollox conditions, dealing with strikes, etc. I never experienced ANY of that, only the good things (of which there was plenty during that era, if you knew where to look and weren't short of a few bob).

Del's still got dresses like that (original 60s/70s ones, handed down by her mum, who was equally as petite), and which she occasionally wears during the summer months. Being a little thing, and a size 10, they really suit her; indeed she can still get into her Brownie uniform!
