Pink Triangle 'PIP-II'

I've said it before here i'll say it again one of the best pre-amps ever built.

Thanks to John for letting me post these pics..Very very rare if not at all you see the Battery PSU & Mains Charger PSU available aswell.

Ah! the Cambridge P40. Always wanted one, but couldn't afford it at the time. Then I was an impeccunious student and had to build my own equipment. One of the first amplifiers to use a torroidal transformer allowing the slim profile. I loved the styling - I believe it won a Design Centre award. Didn't like the DIN speaker sockets though!

The later P50 and P60 also had innovative circuit ideas. I think the P60 was the first amplifier to put the volume control in the feedback loop.

They haven't weathered well with time: you would be lucky to find one in good cosmetic condition, and also they weren't known for their reliability.

A handsome slab of aluminium nonetheless.

I've got a P50 in the loft. It's well dated in sound today unfortunately...

Pip? My AVI wees all over it - had them both to compare.... the DAC's were quite good though

Well, they associate a fantastic design (from Martin Grindrod) with the man that is Ashley James - and for many, that's a great shame.......

When you find a conventional, *very* Class A solid state preamp that gives you perspective, power, clarity, the ability to drive anything out there over long cable runs and which measures properly too, then you have to respect it, if nothing else. I very much respect my S2000 MP+P as well as my Croft 4PP - the Croft is catching up and will equal it once Glenn's worked on it...

By the way, there's a LAB series integrated on fleabay for not too much..

The 'P40' were amazingly streamline & modern looking for 1969.I adore the long throw pear drop style toggle switches & that pointer selector switch..They wernt that greater a finish to start with barry, i thought anodising on the black ones really poor, it gave a strange washed out browny/black type finish.. Regarding reliability i've had all that range including the 'T55' FM Tuner & all were bought broken, but hey solid wood side cheeks what more could you want

I liked the 'P110' most of all, this model came out around 1975...

Good old days ..

Was never a Nytech fan but a nice pic for reference all the same.
