I heard the track Snafu on our local jazz radio station this weekend, and it reminded me that I need to listen to more by this artist. Outstanding tune, as as Ching Miau, track 3. The whole album has hypnotic mood to it. Terrific stuff.
One of my island discs this... 'Love Theme from Spartacus', is just wonderful.

I can see why. I had a proper, more attentive listen late last night, and this album really is outstanding. Every tune can hold it's own, but together they make an album that's up there with the best. I will buy this on disc now....hopefully vinyl if I can find it.

I struggled with some of it; as I do with a lot of late Coltrane. But at times I feel the need to be challenged - so on with the Ornette Coleman!

For those who are Spotify listeners, head's up on a good playlist called Jazz UK. It's a compilation of contemporary artists, and there's some really good stuff there. Some standouts for me have been Matthew Halsall, GoGo Penguin, Blue Lab Beats, Ill Considered, Robert Mitchell Trio, Ezra Collective, and a few others. Definitely a different style than what I'm used to hearing here on our local jazz FM radio station. Very refreshing change.
