I personally Could never get on with Jan Garbarek. I must try again.
Although I’ve been trying to like him for many years. The amount of great ECM recordings I have turned off when he starts to ‘play’ his horn, I can’t begin to count.
IMHO he has a very grating tone. Marmite I suppose.

Yes I can quite imagine Jan Garbarek is a Marmite type character. I first came across him when my brother-in-law gave me Officium back in the 90s. With the Hilliard Ensemble quite a different style to the one I linked to earlier. Fusion of classical early sacred with jazz. Needs a few plays to tune your ears.
