Never having seen or held the old one, I perhaps shouldn't say, but HEAVIER. Since, the old Funk platter was I believe, in effect, a PT platter for a Techie, the new platter is a good deal heavier. Hence the need for the PT to be modified to have heavier guage springs and aluminium levelling wedges to replace the standard acrylic ones. I know you're not interested in PT's but it changes the centre of mass for the suspension too, which is going to involve a rebalancing of the armboard weight, or possibly a repositioning of the springs to shift the centre of suspension. Looks like the size of the platter has been enlarged a little, perhaps to maximise the 'flywheel effect' - or is it just an optical illision? I agree with you, if I was to have one, it would need to be minus the 'go-faster lettering'. Anyway, I await your findings with interest!
