No, that's where it lives Steve. Having almost 30kg on the bottom shelf makes the whole rack feel nice and secure. I don't have the meters switched on anyway, they can become a bit of a distraction & apparently the sound is more transparent with them off (although I can't tell the difference).
That's a shame, I've always fancied one of those, they are so handsome... Still you could always ditch the coffee table!
