Slice a couple of garlic cloves and saute in a tablespoon of olive oil with a little salt and pepper. Lovely!

After trying (and failing) to obtain milk at a couple of shops yesterday, I tried an Asian market, also buying some bread, potatoes and carrots. 2 litre bottles of milk are about £1.30 at most shops I think, at this market it was 95p. I was told that Muslims have been told there must be no profiteering. I will be giving them more of my custom even when this is over

I didn't see how they were for pasta, but their rice was being sold in sacks that would look at home at a builders' merchants.
I just dropped in, to see what condition my condition was in

They do! There was a little guy dragging pallets of them in the back door on one of those 'pump it up' trucks (c'mon Allen, what do they call them things, my mind's gone blank)

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

I buy these anyway so there is no fear of running out. Little bags people buy are an utter waste of time & money. Same with Pasta Shell. I buy monster bags of that.

I did say a few pages back that now was the time to be using mini-markets and supporting local independents, so I'm glad that someone was paying attention!

Have you looked to see if there are any dairies near you who do deliveries? If so, you'll be able to get a whole load of stuff delivered to your door, not just milk either - with zero hassle!
