On now - Xmas present from the Mrs eldest son.... funny as I was caning this on Spotify when it first came out so much so that it became my most listened to album of 2021 on my Spotify phone account. Despite this I chose not to buy it at the time; lucky I didn't as I didn't know he'd bought this

Thought I'd finished with new Maiden releases but for me it is their best overall offering since 'Seventh Son..' although I have enjoyed a couple of albums including 'A Matter of Life and Death' during the intervening years, it seemed like they finally found a use for three guitars without it sounding like there is always one too many trying to find something to do.

    Iron Maiden – Senjutsu (戦術)

    Parlophone – 0190295015930
2 x CD, Album, Deluxe Edition, Limited Edition

    Best Wishes

I was really into Iron Maiden back in the early 80’s, but never realised they had kept on going! Will have to give the later stuff a try!

Funny how the time flies isn't it

Still remember catching the bus into Bedford after getting home from school to buy 'Live After Death' on the day it was released, bought with the money I earned doing an early morning milk round

Took the Mrs' eldest to see Maiden in 2006 18 years after I'd first seen them at Donny '88 when I was 18

Finishing the night with some ambient electronica on CD.

Boards Of Canada – Tomorrow's Harvest

    Warp Records – WARPCD257, Music70 – WARPCD257
    2013

It was the purchase of the double vinyl LP of this album that started my BoC journey upon release.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”
