Sounds almost as good as the "cheap" stereo solution using one loudspeaker. Mount it on an arm which rotates rapidly (how rapidly?), switch the left and right channels as the loudspeaker moves round, and maybe also compensate for Doppler shift.

Some health and safety hazards though, and warning signs and cutouts would need to be installed to ensure nobody gets hurt.

Could combine it with the wind turbine idea!

    Why use batteries at all?
Surely a supercap bank will be all that we need?

Well, we've been out all day looking at cars for Del, and after test-driving a few, she's settled on a Mini Clubman Cooper S Exclusive 2.0L Petrol in 'Chilli Red', but she'll be having 18" black alloy wheels on hers:

    https://www.halliwelljoneschestermin...man/exclusive/

The Panda Cross, Suzuki, etc, were fine and she liked the quirky look of the Panda in particular, but immediately fell in love with the Mini, which was quite obviously in a different class, especially in terms of overall build and finish. We're going for the bigger 2L engine, as it'll be better for long distances when going abroad, pretty 'pokey' too with 192HP!

It's really a gorgeous car, inside and out, and MASSIVE inside, when the rear seats are folded down flat, and super-wide too, due to how the doors open, which will be ideal for transporting large flat-packs from Ikea, etc. I reckon I could stretch out fully there inside a sleeping bag, as there's just tons of room! So plenty for bringing back vino and goodies from our trips abroad!

We're just going to get Christmas over with first, and then order one to our spec in the new year, so it'll be a fun way to start 2020

    Marco.

P.S Dave, I'll get to your post later.

For cars where there are lots of options to make them individual like the Mini it does make sense sometimes. I really like the Giulia, but you would seriously lose a load of wedge buying one of those new - I bet they're a massive bargain second-hand.

I'm seriously thinking of leasing for Sue's car which needs replacing, really. Will have to be a SUV for the space with the kids and they much prefer being higher up so they can see around them, and 4WD with the country roads in the winter. My VW I will keep for as long as it lasts as I am not doing anywhere near as many miles as I used to. The Defender I will never change, though.

No - go straight to nuclear reactors - new designs which go straight to electricity!

Imagine pulling into a "garage" and having a few new uranium rods installed! Or maybe a squirt of hydrogen if fusion reactors are used.

Precisely! And I intend to take full advantage of that. When the time comes, if I can get a nice one for around £20-25k, I'll be happy. However, I'll be keeping the Brabster for a while yet, especially now with Del getting her Mini, as we'll be using that for all major long-distance driving, so that will help put less miles on the Merc

There are lots of advantages with leasing, when you're still working, especially in terms of tax, servicing, etc. I always leased cars through the business, as it was a no-brainer. And there are certainly plenty of choices of SUVs!
