Listening to this one that I was recently received from a friend as a present, very kind of him, it is rather good, lovely recordings and singing. 1st records listened to so far, Elgar and Mahler

Janet Baker, Sir John Barbirolli ‎– Janet Baker Sings Berlioz / Elgar / Ravel / Mahler
    Label: His Master's Voice ‎– SLS 5013, His Master's Voice ‎– 0C 191 o 52261-3, His Master's Voice ‎– BOX 501301, His Master's Voice ‎– BOX 501302, His Master's Voice ‎– BOX 501303
Format: 3 × Vinyl, LP Box Set
    Country: UK
    Released: 1978
    Genre: Classical
    Style: Romantic, Impressionist

Listening is the act of aural discrimination and dissemination of sound, and accepting you get it wrong sometimes.

Analog Inputs: Pro-Ject Signature 10 TT & arm, Benz Micro LP-S, Michel Cusis MC, Goldring 2500 and Ortofon Rondo Blue cartridges, Hitachi FT5500 mk2 Tuner

Digital:- Marantz SA-KI Pearl CD player, RaspberryPi/HifiBerry Digi+ Pro, Buffalo NAS Drive

Amplification:- AudioValve Sunilda phono stage, Krell KSP-7B pre-amp, Krell KSA-80 power amp

Output: Wilson Benesch Vector speakers, KLH Ultimate One Headphones

Cables: Tellurium Q Ultra Black II RCA & Chord Epic 2 RCA, various speaker leads, & links

I think I am nearing audio nirvana, but don’t tell anyone.

She's very good - just listening to some more of her (Chopin) - will be using her videos as inspiration for my daughter's piano learning! Had never heard of her, thanks Jerry.

Baker's recording of the Ruckert songs are in my view the best out there by any female singer. Intoxicating. The Sea Pictures on this set is also very special.

My favourite male voice recording is actually piano accompanied (rather than orchestral) by Konrad Jarnot and Helmut Deutsch:

Thanks Alex - yes, she's fabulous.

She also has a recording of the late Beethoven sonata op 109, one of my favourite pieces of music.
    She is absolutely world class!

Thanks I will look that one out. I have struggled with classical vocal for many years, just could not get my head round it, but recently seem to be able to appreciate it more.
