Another anecdote alert: about 11 or 12 years ago when Tamzin was 5 or 6 I introduced her to my vinyl albums, and for some reason she loved Tina Turner, and this one in particular. One morning she came running into the room “Daddy, Tina Turner’s cat is in our garden!” And it was! (Well if it wasn’t, I couldn’t tell the difference either.)

This album holds a unique honour in my collection - it is the only one I have bought new in 3 different formats. Originally I bought it on cassette - possibly the only album I have ever bought when it came out on tape, for the sole reason that we were about to go on a school geography trip for a week to the Lake District.

Even then I couldn’t face the thought of a week without music! I couldn’t afford a Sony Walkman so made do with a Sansui knock off and bought this album. I also made some copies of other albums and compilations using my dad’s Ferguson sound system, so looking back I don’t know why I didn’t buy it on vinyl and copy it, but there you go.

I did subsequently acquire a vinyl copy, and then when I finally accepted CDs were “the future” this was one of the hundreds of albums that got an “upgrade”.

The school trip to the Lakes was fairly uneventful except I was the one who was picked to go into an off licence in Kendal to buy Woodpecker cider and fags as I looked one of the oldest of our motley crew of 15 year olds. Illicit goods were acquired without a hitch or question, and maybe my heroics was what attracted Amanda to me, who I subsequently “got off” with - but don’t worry, no baked beans or other canned goods were harmed in the making of that brief relationship!

Thanks to Mike for bringing the LP to my/our attention. I immediately bought a copy from eBay, and it arrived today. In near mint condition , it is the best £6's worth I have had in a long time. :)

I agree, I did play “Music has the right..” yesterday which is still fabulous in parts, but overall I think Inferno is their best and will become a classic. Check back in 20 years to see if I’m right!

I bought the single "Relax" to see if could reach Number 1. I wanted to see what the BBC would do on their programme 'Top of the Pops' if Relax had reached number one. :D

I think it was Mike Reid who spearheaded the BBC ban on it? Crazy thinking back now that it was thought to be offensive at the time. I too have the 7” single but also the 12” and Two Tribes on 12” - which I remember was epic. I must find time over the weekend to give that a spin on the vinyl rig.

'Relax' did in fact reach number 1, but I can't remember what the BBC did about it. 'Two Tribes' was another good track.

Pretty much anything DM release I am all over it, but there are a few of the albums I’ve not been mad on - this must be one of them, ‘cos I can’t remember the last time I played it, and apart from a couple of tracks a lot of it is unfamiliar. It’s not bad, but it’s no Violator, although I think that’s what they were trying to do here.

I have played this several times now, and am really liking it, strangely for an album by a female Australian singer-songwriter it does remind me of Depeche Mode and also OMD in places in the instrumentation. Some of the songs are a bit repetitive, but overall a solid album and definitely in my top 10 of the year so far. I can’t imagine it will be anyone else’s cup of char in here, though!

Described on Tidal as “a sensual mix of pop and R&B” but it’s more than that. One Bandcamp comment is much more accurate - “Erika’s voice purrs and prowls about the mind, slicing through the haze of dreamy downtempo beats and lush, brooding chords.” Nice.

It’s difficult, on one hand you get Max Headroom, on the other, Moments in Love is my favourite track. I usually play Daft, on SACD until my SACD player decided it no longer wanted to be a player.

One of my favourite bands ever. I did however have a row with a guy at work over this album - he was "quizz master" for a work quiz and when it cam to the music round we had the traditional 10 "beat the intro" tracks recorded onto tape, a point each for Title and Artist.

I like a bit of pop quiz, me. I always thought 70s music was my thing, as it was what I grew up with. But a few years ago me and Anita did an online 80s quiz, and between us we got 100/100 correct! I hadn't realised 80s pop music had embedded itself in my memory so completely! It really was the decade for pop I reckon :)

When I was at school there used to be an inter-school quiz league for the sixth forms. I joined the team since you got to go visit schools that had girls.

We had a semi-final match against one school which was very close and came down to one question, 'In the book 'The Hobbit' who killed the dragon Smaug?'

The correct answer is 'Bard The Bowman' which we gave. But the answer on the question sheet was 'Bilbo Baggins.' So we lost and got knocked out. The bloke even admitted the answer was wrong but the rules were that the answer on the sheet was final.

Boys only Grammar school. Founded by Jesuits in 1842. It wasn't posh, more like a military prison for 11 to 18 year olds. Any time I see the film 'The Hill' that reminds me of it.

Was a good school though, education-wise.
