The DAC is already shipping to a few people outside Europe ;). The redesign of the front fascia is a suggestion for a later production, not the current batch.

The casework is not off the shelf, but one that a friend and me designed. I used a program called Front panel designer to do the layout, positioning of the holes, and the recessed bits. The Gerber files were then used by a local laser cutting factory to cut the panels and make the recessed holes. It didn't come cheap. Of course they can cut more complicated patterns etc., but that only adds to the cost. But it is now at least easier for anyone with better skills than me to design their own fascia, send it to www.frontpanelexpress.com, and swap it over with the existing one. You only need to make sure that the various holes are in the exact position as before.
