We both (me and Robbie not me and Kylie, regrettably) used to get our burgers from Sinbad's in Tunstall.
Don't look for it, it's not there anymore. They even demolished the building.

Just been on Radio Caroline this morning. Forgotten just what a good tune this is.

You guys!
To be fair, Kylie does redeem a lot of things!
He must have a thing for Antipodean ladies.

I still want to smack him in his smug gob for no rational reason, though!
I would agree with that. To use a Wham! analogy, Robbie was the Andrew Ridgeley. I always felt he held you back. But for him to then claim he'd gone solo, that must have stung.
Just out of curiosity, when you guys went to Sinbads, did you go Dutch or did Robbie ever put his hand in his pocket
We were never there at the same time. This was 1991 and by that point he was already become the fat dancer out of 'Take That.' I saw him mention in it in an interview that's all.
Location of 'Sinbad's', yesterday. The place next to it used to be a crap chippy:

I can picture Robbie in his "fat dancer" days getting his dinner at the crap chippy then nipping next door to Sinbad's for his pudding. Did Elvis not teach him anything?
This is where he lives now so he's done better than we have at least by a little bit:

Even his pool house is better than my actual house.

I wonder if he would let me move in there like in 'Magnum PI'?
Yep, he's doing alright for himself. But that room - where's the Focal Grande Utopia EM? They'd fit in there nicely. I bet he just makes do with a top-spec karaoke machine.
That garden's a bit like mine, his boundaries are just a bit farther apart :)
I bet all of those books are false: consisting of just the spines stuck on to hardboard. :D

Old news anyway, looks like he sold that place back in 2024, only been there less than 2 years.
Lives in London now next door to Jimmy Page, says he didn't want his children growing up with American accents. So I suppose now they'll end up with Mockney or Estuary accents which are both a lot worse than Californian IMO.
Bet the kids are wondering why they can't get proper food anymore too.
I almost put that on next, but then looked at the shelf underneath and saw this. It's been a while.

What's that? New Order?
It is Martin, Technique is the fifth studio album by English rock band New Order.
Meanwhile . . . . I can't stop playing this :)

Until a few weeks ago I'd never heard of Little Barrie. My interest is officially piqued :)
Yes Mike, I'm going to blame you for making me part with some of my hard-earned...
Just been watching a vid of Little Barrie and Malcolm Catto on the You Tube - what a performance! Just what I didn't know I needed in my music collection :)
Anyway, as a result I've ordered this, and I'm sure I won't be disappointed :)

White Elephant- Exile (2018)
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...dd0687c0c8.jpg
Don’t really know how to describe these, so I will leave it to Bandcamp*: “White Elephant is a collaboration between Crazy P's Jim Baron and Chris Todd with Ben Smith (of Smith & Mudd fame). musically a blank canvas, here you'll find anything from extended valium-ambience to Balls out Kraut Rock pop.”
It’s good!
* I always want to say “this one time, at Band camp” every time I see Bandcamp. If you know, you know! [emoji23]

It's a cracker Mike, my only criticism would be it's too short!
Di Hotel Malibu
Thee Marloes

An Indonesian R&B group . . . who knew and it's not bad!
Quote:
The Indonesian city of Surabaya, located on the island of Java, isn't exactly renowned for its soul or R&B scene. Yet, this is where Thee Marloes were born—a trio comprising singer-keyboardist Natassya Sianturi, drummer Tommy Satwick, and guitarist Sinatrya Dharaka. On their second album, Di Hotel Malibu, they embrace a voluptuous, languorous sound—an atmosphere beautifully heightened by the sweetness of Sianturi's vocals—all while anchoring their music in the rich heritage of American soul.

Not bad - in fact quite good really. This is a double disc package consisting of an audio CD and a DVD.
Normally I dislike video discs of audio performances: they are often live recordings and don't really add much. This on the other hand is somewhat different and are a series of short films. Skillfully done using the whole gamut of video techniques; stop action; solarisation; image negative and action reversal, they are quirky, at times self indulgent, but interesting and worth watching.

I’m back to female singer songwriter fare, too. Not sure how I found this one, probably Radio Paradise, as I have been listening to that a lot lately.
Lucy Dacus - Forever is a Feeling (2025)

Doesn’t really innovate in the genre but she has a nice voice and the album has good arrangements and excellent production. A grower, I feel.

A similar bluesy rock vibe, bur with added Redneck country twang. Very good.

Been a while, if I do ever play FLC it usually ends up being Mimosa.

Too hard to choose! I did start playing Come Find Yourself but wanted to hear She’s my Friend and remembered it’s on Loco! I might go back to it after.
