Bizarre, but it seems to work from the same principle of main arm beam and sub-arm, each with a couterweight. He's not asking much, so someone might get a good toy to play with.
It's a shame that the SME 'shell is a fixed part of it, as something a little more sturdy is called for. Will probably suit MM carts.
Definetley don't need anymore speakers but was intrigued whether these were considered to be any good?

The Rs range were good. Definitely worth a punt for £30.
Especially if they're chucking the Luxman power amp in to the deal!
I've sent them a message. What the hell, can't lose on the speakers and I may want to take a look at the Luxman.

just paid £20 for a Ortofon VMS20E MkII off ebay with any luck it'll be here tomorrow before I head off for Scalford so i can maybe give it a try while i'm there:) I've always fancied giving one of these a go and if it turns out to be a pile of crap it's only cost me 20 notes

Nice Thorens 'TD126 Mk.III' presently running complete with 'TP63'.. The Mk.III was the one with the DC Motor.. Only thing is it's Electronic - Cue :( loverly decks all the same..

That behaviour is a bit like ticket touting, isn't it? Not illegal, but it really pisses me off.

£225 for an Ortofon S-series cartridge? It's mono and can only be used in RMA arms that have the Neumann 'diamond' contact cartridge coupling arrangement!
Well, I suppose it's more 1970s than 1960s really. Given the age of your house, I would imagine something that doesn't look out of place would be best. It's not an easy balancing act to make though; we live in a modern house, so it isn't much of an issue. You must have an AGA though! Surely! :)Quote:
