just paid £20 for a Ortofon VMS20E MkII off ebay with any luck it'll be here tomorrow before I head off for Scalford so i can maybe give it a try while i'm thereI've always fancied giving one of these a go and if it turns out to be a pile of crap it's only cost me 20 notes

These are as rare as hens teeth (hence the starting bid). I've used my SL7 vertically and it works a treat, but the V5 can only be used vertically - the lid is hinged to the side (and the writing's the right way up).
If it weren't for the reception it'd get from the missus ("why'd ya need three turntables?") I'd be very sorely tempted . . .

That weren't a bargain Andr'e. A year ago, you'd be lucky to get a couple of hundred for such machines I remember..
I can't go on and I can't go back, I don't feel so matter of fact,
I tried and tried to make good sense, What's the good to try it all again?

I saw them when they first went up Chris. I can see the attraction, i guess it's probably the below more than anything:
Shure V15/3
Dynavector (Which looks like a 10X Gold, but not sure)
Grace (Which looks lke a F9 Gold, but not sure)
Audio Technica AT OC-5
(Townshend) EEI 500
Goldring 1000 Series (could be any)
Mission 773 (Moving Magnet version)
