Thanks Chris, I was pretty sure you were going to say that. It is of course impossible to make comparisons unless everything else is kept constant.

Hi Michael, I wasn't expecting a black and white answer. There is as you say no such thing in subjective and context specific things like audio.

Tbh I'm pretty sold on the Vantage platter but was just curious about FF one. From a scientific perspective I'd still like to know more about it. I've been on the FF website and the picture of it is not very clear.

So if Marco or Martin could post some pics of it I would be very appreciative.

I'll gladly photograph the platter, if you want, but Martin's got a much better camera (and tripod), so it's probably best that he does it :)

If you call me sometime tomorrow (you have my number), I'll explain exactly why, from all the platters I've heard on my Techy, the Funk one is what I consider to be the best :cool:

As mentioned by Marco in post further back, the Mike New ETP Platter has to be included in any of these considerations for comparison. The only thing for me is I so wish these things (apart from Richards modded stock platter) didn't cost so much, all nigh on £600 :( It's one of the reasons why i guess for quite some time now I can only refer to my beloved Techie as part modified :( :lol:

the platter has 1 essential part that is impossible to source and thus has to be made specially, so due to that fact the platters are expensive I guess, that is 1 reason why I went for the vantage platter and I will have mine finished very shortly, even though I could buy one I personally think the vantage platter will be close to or maybe better than plastic platters, I would like to listen to one other than through headphones but don't have time to faff about any longer as I am just too busy, my Tech will have:-

MCRU feet
MCRU PSU
Vantage Platter
Stillpoints LPI
Vantage Bearing
SME 309 Arm Re-Wired with NWA Cabling (until the wand comes back)
Kontrapunkt B Cartridge
Furutech Silver Arrows Tone-Arm Cable
Running through my LDA Tube Phono Stage
