There's nothing wrong with slow charging if you're not going anywhere long distance, and the prices of slow chargers are typically a bit lower - maybe 16-25p per kWh, versus 35-60p at a fast charger. Many of us do charge at home with rates of between 7p-20p per kWh - but that works overnight or in the daytime when the sun is out.
So Teslas can charge up at non Tesla chargers - but it may take so long it's hardly worth the bother.
Conversely non Teslas can charge up at some Tesla chargers, but there the catch is that there may be an extra charge per kWh for using a non Tesla car. Not all Tesla chargers will allow other cars.
What about other charging networks? Trouble with those is there are so many, and they are diverse, and require different Apps and means of payment etc. I believe things are getting very slightly better - but one doesn't normally find out until actually trying to use any of these. That's usually exactly the time when you "just want the ***** thing to work", and quite often there are arcane reasons why these don't.
