Steel is something the first cable neglects to mention.
That's not to say that the steel takes any signal due to it "travelling" on the surface, but normally not considered for hifi.

Those look like they've been made by JBL. If so, they'll be quality... Or perhaps they're just cheap lookalikes? Mmm...

There are a lot of JBL Century 'clones' out there - Technics, Akai, even seen some Goodmans efforts once, white bass driver, level controls the lot. In crack convertors. I would have bought them but one bass driver had coil rub. Never seen another pair.
A lot of these types used to "squawk" as I remember (even the JBL originals), the bass gains swamped by the midrange sadly. Not as fun looking, but you could look out for the later JBL versions (crackle black finish only for the pro market) - which I think had "B" and "C" monikas after the 4310 and 4410 numbers (I forget now, but new, the 4410C? was around £1300pr ten or so years ago IIRC) and with much better crossover design to bring the concept up to date......
The Pioneer HP series of speakers were very JBL like, apart from the foil super tweeter.
