Good choice Tim - looks like we had "the same thing on our minds". :eyebrows: Yes, I probably am showing my age, but I don't care: I saw her play at University, which was over 50 years ago. :rolleyes:
(I have also seen The Groundhogs play, but can't remember when or where: now that is a sign of old age! :mental: )
I saw them at The Roundhouse mid 70s, can't remember exactly when, must have been around 75 I think, as I left home in 76 and my concert days were over for quite a few years after that. Only saw them once and never saw Jo-Ann Kelly.Quote:

Preservation Brass “For Fat Man” and Preservation Hall Jazz Band “That’s It”. Fairly traditional, touristy trad NO jazz, but none the worse for that.
Neil Young and the Bluenotes - This Note's for You. My mate can't stand NY - calls him whiney and miserable. I should play him this album.

I used to find Neil Young's voice thin and whiney. For ages I couldn't stand listening to him, then I had a sudden volte face and now have a dozen or so of his CDs.
Still dislike his 'grunge' period though.

Bethlehem released The Charlie Mariano Quartet in 1954 when altoist Charlie Mariano was at the prime of his bebop period. Mariano, whose alto tone mixes together Benny Carter and Charlie Parker, is accompanied by a quiet and supportive rhythm section comprised of pianist John Williams, bassist Max Bennett, and drummer Mel Lewis. Switching to tenor on four of the dozen selections, Mariano sounds in excellent form on ten standards, a blues, and his own "Floormat." A swinging cool bop date.
