Released exactly ten years ago today, on his 69th birthday, two days before his passing. Where did that ten years go?
Only played this once, I found it a difficult listen. Giving it a second go now, it still sounds like his death on vinyl.

Another oddity in my collection, and I don’t remember anything about it! Apparently her 17th studio album, but I have none of the previous 16 and nothing since? Strange.

Nottingham duo’s debut from 2005, but industry stalwarts under various other projects. Funky uplifting electronica, but pretty hard to find a physical copy so if you see one snap it up. Nothing on the streaming platforms apart from a couple of their EPs. I have the third and last CD album “Mince & Onions” but the middle one “Hooked on You” has eluded me it appears…. Not now, coming from the states for fifteen quid. [emoji846]

There’s not a bad track on it. The film is great, too, albeit a cheese fest! I do have my original vinyl copy and CD “upgrade” - inevitably there’s a 2015 remaster “Deluxe” edition but have never tried that, not usually a fan of those type of releases. Maybe I should. I have a few others, but a lot of gaps. We must be due a prince biopic?

Another one not played in eons - considering it is older than me the recording is fantastic, as is the production and of course, the performances.
Good one Alex! Saw them perform in Manchester shortly after the LP was released.
Not seen the film since the 1980s but recall it being very cheesy and cliched - but the music carries it of course. Never seems to get shown on TV now. Or if it has been I've missed it.Quote:

Doesn’t look like the movie is available to stream free on any of the platforms, I certainly don’t ever remember seeing it on broadcast TV. I am sure I have it on DVD but they’re all in the loft, I will have to check. That said, it’s only £7.99 in 4k on Apple so that would save a trip up the ladder to the freezing cold! Didn't think it would be my thing, but Rod did a good job and surrounded himself with some very talented performers. Followed by "Rod Stewart at the BBC". BBC's usual format, best known songs in chronological order from OGWT, TOTP and other footage. With lots of related trivia chucked in, learn as you listen :)

I know what you mean, though to my ears there's really no comparison. At least with his early stuff, like "In a Broken Dream" by Aussie rock band Python Lee Jackson. They recruited Rod to provide the vocals, for which he was paid the princely sum of... a set of seat covers for his car! :) I expect he gets paid better these days, even though his voice has faded a bit.Quote:

Some people frown on the use of samplers, but I like them for the simple reason they are easier to pull out when you can't decide which of the artist(s) 'proper' LPs to play.
