Furutech SK2 Electrostatic Brush

Not questioning any ones opinion mate- it is the philosophy to which forums are based, but for me the brush..........

Well, that's your choice, mate, but you've got a very good system, and one that would merit the benefits of the SK2, providing you have a decent-sized record collection :)

As you know, I also use Isonoes on my Techie, and they're great, but the sonic effect of the Furutech brush is just as fundamental, but in a different way.

Remember that removing static happens at the very beginning of the vinyl reproduction chain - support feet cannot address this problem.....

can i play devil's advocate here?

If i have a 1200/1210 with new tonearm psu ect,but stock feet,which would you purchase next Isonoe's or Furutech SK2?

Roughly how many records have you got, Darren (or the fictional person in your example)? You're only going to get value from the Furutech brush if you own enough records to take advantage of its benefits, and you play them often :)

i have between about 250-300,but was thinking more hypothetically just out of interest.

I have a Roksan brush, brilliant at cleaning out dust from the grooves but terrible for introducing static.
The Furutech appears to be based on a sound principle. They appear to work like some of the better brushes that come with an earthing strap. Of course you become the earth. I think its good its goats hair to because i find carbon bristles can scratch.

On balance, I'd say get the Isonoes, but if vinyl was your preferred music format, and you owned 1000+ records and played a percentage of them every day for many hours (as I do, for example), then there'd be a very good case for buying the SK2 before the Isonoes :)

Quite simply, there is now a sure-fire procedure for having records, which in terms of pops and crackles, are completely silent during playback:

1) To start with, only buy brand new vinyl and/or second-hand vinyl in MINT condition.

2) Use a quality RCM, together with an effective record cleaning solution.

3) Once records are cleaned, pop 'em into a Nagaoka (or Mo-Fi) anti-static sleeve.

4) Before playback, swipe records once with a Furutech brush.

Then sit back and enjoy silent and flawless reproduction of your favourite music. That's exactly now what I do! :cool:

that seems to make sense.I am finding on my days off that im listening to way more vinyl now i have the ts psu but still trying to get the balance between buying records and upgrading.

Theres a lot of different opinions on brushes but the one thing i tried with great results for cleaning records was the Knosti cleaning system.
Its boring to use and the cleaning fluid is nasty. Plus you have to rinse the record with de ionised water. Even then i found some muck left behind that the stylus cleans out. Not ideal. But its better than any of the cheap brushes.
