I think that's what I was after. It really sounds like you're sold on this platter. I'll wait for Marco's remarks, as well; but, you realize this adds a layer of complexity to my platter upgrade decision. :steam: :lol:

Good review Martin , interesting that it works best with the Achromat ? On my old Voyd any sort of mat made it worse, much worse .

I have built an acrylic platter in the past (as well as other materials) and also a couple of acrylic mats. I would agree that that acrylic has a distinctive sound/colouration - I wouldn't describe it as you have though.

I don't think you are hearing the acrylic ringing, so there is no need for rubber bands. What you are hearing is the uneven attenuation of some frequencies at the expense of others - hence the preference of another mat to actually contact the record. I've no issue with acrylic as a platter material, and its relatively low mass makes it well suited to the Technics with its servo speed control - I just don't like the sound of it when it is used as a record interface.

Indeed, and neither did I. It sounds really good with the Achromat, which is the best interface for records that I've heard.

Hi Martin. Can I ask were there any issues interfacing the Funk platter and Mike New bearing? I know there shouldn't be an issue but just want to check :)

That's good to hear. I'm getting quite interested in a platter upgrade, this looks like a good 'un. Interested to see what the competition come up with too :)
