Pick up only from Kent:steam:
I'd have 'em in a second if they were just down the road. So much more fun than today's tinny sounding junk.

Only 75 miles for me... unfortunately what I've really got my heart set on is 200 miles away, and also ends after the Sansui's and I don't think both are going to be an option! Will see how much these go to...
about 1979 they came out
Townshend Avalon with arm and the trough and bits I'm after ... Oooo how I wish I could justify the money right now!
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Townshend-Aval...5#ht_853wt_922
You could buy it, remove the bits you need and re-sell the rest. :)
It was so tempting ... And look what it went for!! An actual bargain on eBay I think!
Gosh, that was cheap :stalks:
How about a Setton RCS X1000 Receiver?
Less than 100 were made and they cost $3500 34 years ago. Has to be the ultimate in modern retro styling. :)

Very nice except some bloody idiot put blue lamp bulbs in it (the seller says they're LED's, but they're not). They also changed the red LED's for yellow. They also lost the cover for the headphone sockets. There could be more problems with this but the photos aren't good enough to tell for sure.
On the back of the excellent Belkin Pure A/V interconnectors, i recently bought, i was thinking about trying out some of their speaker cable http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEWAX:IT have any members got any of it and if so what's it like?
Oh my gawd! Here's another can of worms.
They do at least three different types of speaker cable that I know about. The one in this advert looks like the one I have except mine has a braided mesh over the top & was terminated in plugs that can be unscrewed to fit spades. It's 14 awg.
Here's what I have:
http://www.expansys.com/belkin-14awg...d53581848b5bbc
- but I didn't pay anything like £108 for it!
I got two sets of 3.7 metre runs - the first was something under £4 + P&P, the second was £15.
They compliment the interconnects (white!) perfectly & have ousted my long standing choice of cable.
Belkin do seem to go out of their way to confuse peoplw i think
new valve power amp going very cheap, not sure why?
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/AD-601-Vacuum-...item27b8a6f6ab
I've not tried the Belkin, but if it's a good cheap speaker cable you're after I'd recomment this-
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Microphonic-Au...item19c315795b
That price is for two stereo lengths.I recently fitted some of this and I think it is excellent. In the past I have used Black Mambas, DNM and NVA LS3, and this cable is easily as good if not better than all of those. YMMV of course.
I'd put on a par with the Belkin i/c's in the SPPV stakes.
Tried it reasonable powered but coloured
You can have mine for £10 to cover postage if you wish
If anyone wants to pick up free
Mine spiked a bit but think that because I was listening to at high volumes and it was on top of my power amp
I think it be ok for a second system if the system is on the bright side
I think these will go for considerably more than they are now... Anyone like to lodge a guess? £500? Or are they less desirable than "normal" Maxims? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...ht_4517wt_1139
These don't turn up too often........

I think I have just got my self a genuine bargain :)

A Turntable at first site ... But it has a nagaoka mp11 with 2 spare stylus with it! ... And the turntable looks mint condition ...
Good grief, Hamish, that truly is a steal. Well done!
This was a bargain for someone, just to far away for me
Hamish - that was a great find! I reckon you will be in for a treat... :)
Jonboy - oohh - that was a bargain - I have a saved search with emails for "Rogers" on ebay, but don't remember seeing that one come up...
Chris - Why do I imagine Andre will get a stiffy if he follows that link? :eyebrows: No, too new, but they would certainly be a conversation piece!
And finally, the Goodmans Double Maxim only made £330 so my guess was way too much...
I already have the same a cadet 2 and matching pre, excellent amps and the pre's are quite good as well, mine have been rebuilt by my valve legend mate, the amps require a small mod make them really sing, definately a keeper, not heard the speakers but i'm informed there not bad as well, a very nice little set up indeed
Ebay is getting stupid in terms of pricing and Google searches linking to "us" raving about certain items doesn't help I reckon.
Woofdale Diamonds aren't really worth more than £20 these days and anyone paying £150 for a product that may be well bettered by some Richer Sounds specials for £120 is totally mad IMO.
Ah yeh Chris i love the Rogers amps.I honestly don't know how i missed that auction
What about these ones though Andre?

Nope, can't see those! :)
Lol - for the first time ever, I can! :eyebrows:
Those Mission amps are real quality, and pretty rare, too. They'd be a fabulous buy for anyone who's into vintage SS amps :)
Marco.
Seems quite expensive to me. Having said that, they were serviced in 2001 and may have had new caps and whatnot, plus a new battery for the pre.
They look like giant potato stamps ... I assume they don't sound like giant potato stamps though...
Does look snazzy ... I actually recognise them ... I got an odd feeling of nostalgia when I looked at the picture, but I can't quite place it... When did they come to market?
