Thats ok Jon let us know what they are like.Thru one ear outter the other with me.
I keep looking at this and feel the uncontrolable urge to click the little button. :)
Hell, don't you think that's a tad expensive Andy?
Don't hit the BIN button, if you must do anything hit the offer button & beat the guy down ;)
I dont think its worth 500 notes. I offered 300 but he turned that down. They seem to go for about $500 - 750 in the USA, depending on condition. From what I have managed to ascertain, it is probably one of the ultimate Japanese integrated amps from the late 70's, when building to a price point wasnt in the equation. With a recap, it will still embarass plenty of modern amps.

Theres a dealer in Germany with a boxed one. He wants 1500 euros for it!!!
this looks good value at the moment
Hopefully it will not need to much doing to it, if the Legend Mike the valve is right they have Radford trannies and the valve line up is, 4x ecl86, 3x ecc83, 2x ef86 and 1x gz34, so it has all the makings of something pretty good, just hope it survives the jorney, the tuners are not all that, i missed one the other day but it was sans valves and made more money.
how about this one, power hungry speaker owners need not reply

Nice pair of Rega Elas pick up only at Oxford :) £40 & no bids
I agree his price is far too high. But with a recap, it would be a very good amp.
something a bit special about these then, not a bad finish for a fiver start
How about a set of one off AR's http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vintage-Acoust...item2eb2888e76
Bass suspension has gone but I'd be more worried about the tweeters as you're never going to be able to replace those.
Has anyone come across the big ARs (LST?) in recent times?
My Grandfather had one of these - Philips Stereo Recorder somewhere there are a load of tapes of me and my sister from nearly 40 years ago singing songs and nursery rhymes recorded on it. I remember my dad had it after granddad died, but think it got chucked when dad bought a Ferguson music centre from Rumbelows. Wouldn't have thought it was worth 40 quid though!
Forty quid & they won't even tell you if it works or not! A true Ebay bargain
A couple of Michell 'Focus On S' tt's presently running, these would knock the socks off a simular proportioned turntable i'll not mention.
I'm keeping a careful eye on this Shelter 501 Mk.II

Dr Thomas I Presume?
A very agriculturaly lookingg vintage beastie.
This is a nice pair of scary (in a good way :)) valve amps.
Hi Martin,
Yes I did, but only subject to inspection / test on collection.
Should be ok, hope I have bagged a bargain to replace my Denon DL304
NIGEL
Hi Martin,
I did listen to a Shelter 501 a little while back but lack of funds pushed me into buying the DL304, still a nice cartridge at the price, but it was the Shelter that I really wanted to buy.
Nigel
expensive cabinet if you take out the bits
Maybe some of you guys into cassette could let me know if this is a little exessive http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Thats-MR-X90-P...item4155a0256b
Seems greedy at that price, 3 or 4 pounds tops.
Yes, especially since it's been used... He's havin' a larf! :mental:
Marco.
Used?! I've got stacks of those with music on 'em and they only cost me £4 back in the day. Very good tapes, but not £16 good
If it was unused, he might get a fiver for it!
Marco.
:lolsign: I'm assuming no-one makes cassettes any more then?
I've got dozens of Thats chrome tapes, i always prefered the TDK metal tapes with the alloy chassis. I guess by his prices they must be worth £20+ now :eyebrows:
You can still get new TDK SA but they're not the same or as good as the old formulations from the 80s and 90s. Other folks are producing tape as well; Phoenix Tape Company has produced limited runs of NOS Maxell metal and chrome tape stock. This was well reviewed by HiFi World a while back.
