:) That's what it is Grant, hard to get motivated when outdoors is so grim and all my nice stuff is indoors. And I seem to have dropped very easily into a "retired, don't feel like working, don't have to, so I won't" mindset.

Hope so, or Anita will find me plenty of (unpaid) work to do around the house :(
not ideal sitting in a plane at 16,000 ft and this happens

Not quite what you would expect. Good picture of the problem area.
Boeing do seem to be having their troubles at the moment.
Nice bit of fresh air rather than breathing in covid, flu, cold bacteria and whatever else is going round the plane?
surprising no-one was sucked out...
yes, i said out;)
It's always freezing cold on planes anyway.
Yes, but at 16,000' the outside air temperature is about -17C.
Bet all the passengers stopped ordering beers and vodka and tonic and went straight to Hot Chocolate?
Hand these out at work, they may help! :D

Came across this while looking for something else and had to share:
''According to legend, in the 1990s Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics invited Bob Dylan to drop into his Crouch Hill recording studio any time he wanted to. It is said that Dylan took him up on his offer, but the taxi driver dropped him off on the adjacent Crouch End Hill.
Dylan knocked on the door of the supposed home of Dave Stewart and asked for "Dave". By coincidence, the plumber who lived there was also called Dave. He was told that Dave was out, and would he like to wait and have some tea?
Twenty minutes later the plumber returned and asked his wife whether there were any messages. "No," she said, "but Bob Dylan's in the living room having a cup of coffee".
this is rather good although long so you might skip odd bits... i am both in awe of and hate these guys that are so good at their jobs.. lol

Fascinating, but video could be used for health and safety training
traditional japanese joint... no nails or glue here lol

Absolutely brilliant - it finally makes me understand why my old woodwork teacher was so anti sandpaper :)
I've been trying to find a video of a Japanese double dovetail joint - that is, a right angle joint where both pieces of wood to be joined have 'dove tail' shaped crenellations.
My late father was a very good woodworker. I had a paper article showing such an apparent impossible joint, and he was going to make me record storage case using such joints - but sadly never got around to it.

here you go barry
this is that japanese guy...

No, I'm aware of that video. What I had in mind was a right angle joint where the dove tail shaped tongues are identical, symmetrical and extend across the depth of the two pieces of wood, which are of equal thickness.
I was shit at woodwork, but good at history, that figures. Once my art teacher pressed her ample bosom onto my back, I didn't even register at the time, but now I do, weird?
Is this the one?

Wow!
Or was it this one ?

The court heard Gustavson was treated in hospital and discharged after a couple of days with a referral for a psychiatric assessment.
lol. Not sectioned on the spot which is what should have happened. Just has to pop along to the trick cyclist some time in the next few months.
Managed to solve the Evening Standard's cryptic crossword in less than an hour. That's a first for me, it normally takes me two to three hours.
walking home from work last night about 1800 I saw three cyclists all wearing black, riding black bikes, with no lights or reflectors.
Becoming a common sight. Thought I would look up how many of these idiots get killed each year, surprisingly the 'death toll' has gone down
24% drop in rate of cyclist fatalities per billion miles cycled in 2022 compared to pre-pandemic levels
Cycling mileage up by 12% compared to pre-Covid levels
Provisional casualty stats published in May show cyclist fatalities down 85 in 2022 – lowest level since at least 1993

Maybe this is because a lot of them now seem to ride mostly on the pavement but the three I saw were all on the road.
Well that was a shit day.
Driving to Preston this morning, the van packed up on the M6 exit slip road, which turned out to be a split fuel line pissing diesel onto the road, all of the engine bay, everywhere but where it was supposed to go. Time was 9.30am.
Called AA, who said the van was in a hazardous location on chevrons which to my eyes looked like a reasonable quasi-hard shoulder, and so they were going to call the police out to arrange moving the van to a safer place.
An hour later a Highways Agency SUV arrived, and they informed me that because of its dangerous location, and the fact that it was still on the M6 (just), it should be recovered and taken somewhere safer before the AA will touch it. At a cost of about £300  But... they offered to shove my van a further 40 metres to get it past the 'End of motorway' sign, which they did... Very nice people :)
So then I had to get it recovered onto an AA-appointed low loader and moved somewhere more AA-friendly. He arrived at 1.30pm. Then I had to wait another 90 minutes for the AA, who to be fair fixed it in 20 minutes.
So apart from a couple of treks across two busy carriageways for a brew at Subway I spent much of 9.30 till 3.30pm out in the pissing rain, and wondering how much I'd get if I sold this crappy van that clearly hates me.
Yeah that's a bad day.
Maybe it is Nature's way of telling you to retire. :hmm:
Nature has been telling me this for some time, through aching joints and muscles, falling off ladders and a general reluctance to get up in the morning. Looks like Nature has given up dropping hints and is now shouting :(
I've gone to an average of 2 days a week, I'd assumed Nature would be happy with that.
its a double edged sword sadly. the more you do at this age the more you will have accidents and further damage arthritis, but to just stop can cause serious issues too.
i'd say give it up for a couple of months and you'll either love it or be desparate to get back in saddle (and away from wife lol).
im betting on the latter
