I would expect European equipment to use Tuchels (my Nagra reel-reel machine uses a mixture of Tuchels and XLRs and, come to think of it, so does my EMT 930), but not necessarily on UK equipment. I assume it was EMI's use of the Siemens amplifiers that prompted the use of Tuchel connectors. Still think XLRs are superior though.Quote:

Those SD1s are mine. The tweeters are Visaton RHT12S and are notoriously fragile anyway even without someone buggering around with the crossover, inadvertently shoving bass into them and frying them, which is what had happened to these.Quote:

The crossovers themselves are now back as they should be once more. The previous owner upgraded some components but in the course of re-assembling, managed to put the positive tweeter wire in the wrong place, turning the high pass filter into a low pass one!
