It is a pretty good album and I do not regret a pence I paid for it but
It does not give at any point the illusion to be there, very much 2 dimensional and The musici veneziani have been playing this for years now at least 2 times a week and the "emotion" is gone
I have heard it live at San Vidal 5 or 6 years ago and that room was far to big for this , the Cembalo could not be heard there, you can hear it in the album.
That is the strength of this pressing, loads of details and pretty loud, but it would have been much better whit a better further away microphone placement
To further spoil the illusion to be there just listen to the ambient noise at the end of cut 3.
All said I will buy more from Chasing the Dragon no doubt about it
Still a good album whit decent dynamics and first class cut but if you like the "Four Season" and would like to ear a version of it that Vivaldi himself would have liked

Damon Albaran does for Malian music in Bameko, what Peter Gabriel did in Timbuktu, but nowhere near as successfully. Ignore the murky sound of the first track, the rest of the record gets better.
