Nice amps these & from experience very hard to damage... They have pre out/power in jumpers on the back that if removed you wont get any output so that might be the problem. Cap coupled output like the Quad 303 with a warm, lush, euphonic sound. I'd buy it myself if I werent skint :D

It gets nuttier by the day.
Nearly three grand for a pair of LS3/5a's?!!!

I really don't know why you get so agitated about LS3/5a prices - let 'em get on with it, I say.
Are you in the market for some? No
Are there better speakers available for less lolly? Yes
All the time they're in a bidding frenzy you can be snapping up the good stuff.
Think about yer blood pressure!
Looks like a decent pre for £150... Either a bit of glue or a new balance control will cost less than £10...

Are those "port straws" original ? They look it but I've not seen that on a commercial speaker before http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pair-of-Vi...item3cd751384a
Yes, I remember Celef using them in their designs.
Those Celef Monitors are worth grabbing at that price considering the excellent condition. I'd buy them if I had room for them.
Brilliant little speakers. After setting up Celef, Stuart Tyler went on to create Pro-ac, but I don't know why he didn't conyinue the Celef brand. We used to sell a lot of these, and I suppose they provided the original inspiration for what became the Heybrook HB2. There's a lot of similarities, particularly the use of a resistive port to lower and broaden the reflex resonant peak. Stuart used drinking straws where Peter used a rear-exiting plastic tube with small holes drilled in it to the same effect. Both speakers had a similar smooth and extended bottom end.
Bargain for 50 squid delivered. Easy fix those surrounds...

Weird home-brew Schroeder variant. £250? Don't think so...

shroeder? you see magnets somewhere? it looks to me rather like a (very) poor man's WTA spin off, i've seen a plenty of WTA clones but never something so fugly!
Can't see any magnets. Surely he's not relying on silicone fluid to stop the arm moving forwards?
More Celef goodness :)

I love these. Have a pair I bought in the 80s. Missed a pair in July so I'm pleased to have got these.
Very rare & reputedly very good... I wonder if they'll sell for more or less than a pair of LS3/5a's ?

Those Sony APM6 speakers are quite large, judging their size in relation to the radiator behind them.
Nice looking sleeve http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/original-w...item3a865f03d4
Thats a good price they usually go for £75 ish.. Afromosia..
If I were keeping my '3 series' bits I'd snap it up but alas not... Like you say, a nice price for someone.
The 33 & 303 are classics of course but its the FM3 I've enjoyed the most... Wonderful stuff.
Yeh i know i have some but need more one set per room :D
I had a pair of those, very nice Celef speakers.
Unfortunately one of the tweeters became faulty, and couldn't get a replacement.
Mine had the straws in the ports too BTW.
Yes I do still have them, I put some replacement tweeters in for the time being.
They're at my Dad's on his system.
I couldn't get an original tweeter anywhere.
I'm using Monitor audio studio 12's at the moment and love them to bits.
A pair but only one working http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Peerless-t...item4d14055f79
Cheers, I'll keep an eye on those.
