Incidentally, I may be wrong, but I believe NSU and BMW were originally Auto Union and VW were started as a commission to Ferdinand Porsche by the Third Reich. The auto Union Badge is similar to the Audi badge, I'm not sure when Audi became part of VAG though.Quote:

it is a shame about the Wankel, it is a great concept but was to difficult to build reliably back then.
Frankly - i would have done the same. i would have believed in the future of the wankel and got stuck with the repairs too.

The theoretical ideal shape for a combustion chamber is a sphere because it has the minimum surface area for energy to be lost through heat conduction. That can almost be achieved in a conventional piston engine using inclined valves and bowl-in-piston designs, and it's why twin-cams are such a good idea. Yes, plenty of work Geoff. I've got the Magnums and fancied the bigger version. It's a bit of fun and I'll just take my time. I did get the vinyl to go back on a Magnum driver using a hairdrier. It lifted again after a while though. I'm thinking maybe hairdrier plus spraymount this time. If not I'll give your idea a go. I will need to see, what, if anything, works first. I imagine the Bass driver would be the most resilient wouldn't it?
