You don't have to restrict yourself to gear being sold just in Ireland. Most people in the UK will ship to you, I've sent Hi-Fi bits there. Just ask the seller.

Ok thanks for that I'll keep looking
Ben, something like the following, would get you started. With some decent leads.

Just how good is a PM-44SE? Compared to...let's say... a vintage receiver like the HK 330C or a Sansui 2000x and so on?
Ben

For price "Collect only" is great in the UK. You can also hear it working !
Yup, seven years now. Still don't speak the language properly:(. I spent all my time until I retired, working for the Brits!@! Poor excuse. generally, prices are rising as everywhere. My two areas of expenditure are music and tools. Both of which are bought on-line. When we came here it was cheap. No more. sadly, the Euro is going the wrong way at the moment as well so the pension is going down rather than up. Rats:doh:
Yes I can remember France being good value but family have said it is getting pricier. There was a time when I would buy music and chainsaws in France!
Parents have said food is going up too.
I haven't been back to France for about thirteen years.
Thanks mike.
Could be a bargain here. Goldring Eroica LX in nice condition. Bid up to £71 at the moment. Decent MC cartridge.

Not on ebay, but who would like to pay £75 for a knackered old valve amp box??

I could begin to understand if it had some very special protective packing, but this doesn't look very special at all ...

It's that sort of thing that would ensure I never buy from the seller. They always seem to set new records for high prices on EBay too. I will leave the "bargains" to others :)

Considerably below rrp at the mo'
Jordan Watts? They look like it to me.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-x-Rare-V...item20d4ddf622
Now don't get me wrong, they look to be in superb condition but arent they budget floorstanders ? Those tweeters used to cost between £5 -£10 each... I just cant understand the price :mental:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Royd-RR1-R...31%26rk%3D1%26
I have to agree. That Audax tweeter was a real cheapie which always sounded veiled in every speaker I heard it. Whenever it was replaced with something better, the speaker took several paces forward in terms of performance.
What did surprise me was that the RR1 retailed for £799 in 2001. I'd expected it to be cheaper with that tweeter.
http://www.roydaudio.com/reviews/rr1...sept-oct-2001/
Couldn't agree more... Royd probably modified it somehow as with every tweeter they used but you cant make a silk purse from a sow's ear !
That whole review/specification page looks iffy at best... Reviewer states sensitivity is 87dB yet the specs say 83dB, reviewer states metal dome tweeter used yet pictures show the dreaded Audax POS & then there's the frequency response ! 28hz@-3dB from a 5" driver in a baby floorstander ? Somewhat doubtful
Having owned an amazing smaller pair of Royds a few years ago, I'd take those over a £400 pair of new Monitor Audio or something any day of the week ...
Credit to the seller though - he was much happier to take offers on PFM rather than sell on ebay even with 163+ watchers!
I've owned & enjoyed Minstrels, Doublets, Conistons, Edens & Apex's so I'm not knocking the brand I just thought the price was daft considering any of the aforementioned would eat them for breakfast at half the price IMO.
This looks very cheap. A pair of Audio Technica mono moving coil cartridges for £195!
One for the (few) mono buffs.

Olive Nait 2 anyone :D
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/naim-nait-...item2c7090130d
Sold for £491!
There is a really nice looking pair of Doublets for sale just round the corner from me - collection only so someone could get a great deal here ...

Tannoy DC200, the Tannoy to avoid. A friend of mine had a pair and on his system and on mine (both decent systems by the way), these sounded flat, coloured and lacking any proper dynamics. I'd imagine the smaller DC100 has similar problems.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Tannoy-DC2...item4ac6c22259
The compact Tannoy to buy. System 800, these sound wonderful. I've had a couple of pairs. They are really professional nearfield monitors, but sound sublime in a H-Fi system. At 94db efficiency they'll work with just about any amplifier (great with valves) and have 180watts power handling (they can go very loud).

Classic and very nice sounding vintage British FM tuner, needing a tidy and the silly sticky tape taken off the front, but a bargain!

Zeta! Still one of the best tonearms ever made.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ZETA-TONEA...item3cd36e2cdc
Doh, not another!
I need another Zeta badly but I can't spare the cash at the mo' and there've been more on Ebay in the last two months than you would ever believe!
Cheap Dittons ! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Celestion-...item3383bc5dec
Cracking little amps these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Harman-Kar...item2ec91ec95d
Only 20wpc but the power supply wouldn't be out of place in an 80wpc amp :eyebrows:
is the Leak Delta 30 Amplifier any good?
one going cheap at the moment not far from me.
JBL L100 Century speakers in nice condition. These are very tight and punchy high quality speakers, they were often used as monitors in recording studios. The sound is not neutral, but very detailed. Only bid up to £181 so far, could be a bargain. In Essex.

I know its bad form linking to another hifi forum let alone another hifi forums classifieds ! But I do feel this is rather a special case...

Never seen one of these before but it looks very retro 70's.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VERY-RARE-...item4d0e88e752
I was hoping these may have gone under the radar with no mention of WE in the desription and I could have picked them up for circa £2-3k.
No such luck though. :(
Given that these can go for twice the winning bid, someone got themselves a bargain.

This is pretty rare: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Thorens-EM...30956334930%26
The EMT association will cause it go for far more than it's worth.
