Needed to post a small package today, so popped into W.H.Smith, only to find it has changed its name to T.G.Jones! :doh:
Apparently the name W.H.Smith is being retained for the profitable airport, railway and hospital shops. Profitable because they have a largely captive customer base, so can overcharge for anything they sell. Bastards.
The trick is to buy what you need before you go to the airport or railway station. Or be rich.Quote:

Complimentary newspapers I get on the plane, as I do with booze. But never at an airport.

When we went into Preston last weekend we noticed the WH Smith there (which occupies a corner plot) had T.G Jones signage down the side, but still WH Smith on the front. Probably saving up to get that one changed.Quote:

Darn, I got drunk and knocked one of my speakers over. Also seemed to have spilt small amount of liquid on amp, seems ok though, I managed 4 months no drink, think I need to abstain once again!!

Nightmare, Mike, hopefully the amp is ok. I’ve done similar if not worse over the years after a tipple or three.
