Some of the recordings in that cycle were analogue, Jerry. Certainly the Mahler 2 on vinyl that I have. Are they all consistently poor, or just the AADs?
The 3rd was the only original symphony I had from the cycle, so I cannot answer that, Martin.
The 3rd was digital.

Well, I think that's a re-issue as well, but it may well be different from the 'pressing' in the budget boxset.

Ah ha. It wouldn't surprise me, then, if it turned out to be the same as the box-set edition - from what I can tell, the box-set was issued before the reissue, so it may well be that any adjustments to the sound that were made for the box-set turn up on the reissue, although of course not certain. I'll see if there's any way that I can compare them, otherwise I'll make do with the box-set for now :/
