Still haven't got round to selling these, but they have to go now as I've a pair of chassis to pay for!

These are a superb pair of statics, built from a kit supplied by ER Audio of Australia. They were built by the former UK distributor for this brand, and beautifully made in solid English oak.

Here's a link to the ER Audio website, which includes a review carried out by Hi-Fi World.

http://www.eraudio.com.au/DIY_Speaker_Kits/ESL_III_Kit/esl_iii_kit.html

The new price of the kit is over £1500.Add shipping, and the cost of building the frames, and these add up to a pretty penny.I want these to sell,so would be willing o let them go for £700,which I think is a bloody bargain!

Some pics of the internals-

These are very well made, and sound as good as they look.It would be easy to change the speaker cloth if you'd prefer a different colour.

If there is no interest here, they will be going on ebay at the end of the week.

Hell, they are very nice & yes a real bargain :) I recognise the bass drivers but i can't remember the manufacturer, they are proper bass speakers though or subs if you like. Not some bass/mid trying to do an impression :eyebrows:

Are they Ascendant Audio by chance? If so what size are the drivers..

I bet they can make some noise if needs be

If i had a car/van i think i'd probably snap your hand off ;)

£700 is an absolute bloody bargain for these speakers, Guys! If I had the room and were willing to drive up to Ali's to collect, I would buy them without hesitation.

Come on Guys, you owe it to yourselves to find out what dipole speakers can do. You've heard all about the attack and speed of horns - now add the sheer lack of colouration of electrostatics and you have it all. With electrostatic panels this size you'll have the bass 'welly' as well.

I've tried all evening with Ali's help to find a way to get my hands on these speakers, but they just won't work in my room. So please someone do the sensible thing - send Ali a PM & give 'em a good home.

I would have them myself, if I had the room.

Yep,I'd say it's a pretty good price, since a new pair would cost you well over 2k by the time you were done.

Forgot to say,I stripped them down and cleaned them about 3months ago.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190455087163&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT#ht_500wt_950

For AOS members only,I will deliver anywhere in the UK FOC!!

These really are as good as anything Quad has produced (really) at a fraction of the price.

What more can I say.

Oh :bum:. I lurve electrostatics and these are for sale. How well does the bass unit integrate with the panels as I don't find they do with MLs. How vertically challenged are they?

Another classified section to spend my money on. Jerry, stop me following in your footsteps, please, oh Master.:help:

Ali Tait
27-10-2010, 05:19
About the same as ML's, i.e. they don't really, but I don't feel the need for them anyway, the bass from the panels is quite adequate IMHO. They sound better than the ML's I've heard too.
Height is 1.64m. I agree they are not the smallest of statics, but you.can't get away from the fact that if you want a good response from a static, you need surface area.

Sorry Ali, they are just too tall, otherwise they look superb and I'd take them off you - but I don't have the space without woman trouble. My apologies for getting your hopes up.
I do love 'statics and I agree that the only way with them is large surface area.

Anthony.

Hi Ali,
I'm interested in these ER's you have for sale and also the DPA Enlightenment Power Amplifiers, though how well do the DPA's handle the ER's load (in bridge mode I assume)? I'm willing to go to £1,050 for both if we could come to an agreement on delivery. I hope this is satisfactory for you as I've had a penchant for electrostatics for along time.
Thanks for your time.
Phil.
