OK, guys, I have some ideas but a prefer to ask people with more experience and better brains than me! I'm after a vintage magnesium headshell for my SME 3009. It needs to weight around 7-8g and mimic the weight of the old SME lightweight headshells. I'm after something to provide a little extra damping. It's to house a Grace f9E cartridge and be used, in general, for vintage MM carts which need low mass arm like Shure carts etc. Any ideas really reall welcome.
ADC LMG-1C?
I had a few of those, but gave them away. You would have difficulty finding a headshell as light as that of the SME S2 (6g including the cartridge leads).
The ADC LMG-1 weighs 7.6g including cartridge leads, 6.0g without.
There is the Denon PCL-5 die-cast magnesium headshell which weighs in at 6.5g.
They are still available used on ebay and go for less than that ADC LMG-1C headshells.
